  1. It’s all GDP per capita. India has a huge work force, but on an economic level the country is still a third world country. Nothing to be compared with successful countries, not even with China - which I see as a second world country.

  2. This debt does not make the USA poor, as their economy produces around 20 trillion dollar in GDP - a year! In other words: their economy produced roughly the same amount a year as their entire debt position is. Think of having a house with a mortgage, and early a nearly income worth of that mortgage.
