Yes.
The UK doesn't even fulfill the needed criteria for APPLYING for EU membership at the moment...
Instead the EUs Commission started an infringement procedure against the UK recently, as the UK hasn't been implementing properly any of the deals, it signed with the EU27...
Starmer got informed about that subject, when visiting the EU27..
Some weeks ago the EUs Commission stated/analogous "that the EU is very happy with the TCA, that it's very balanced for BOTH sides, and that the Commission is taking care of further implementation of the TCA at the REVIEW coming up".
January this year the "passporting" went back into the EU27.
June 2025 the "Euroclearing" will be back in the EU27, then Brexit is complete, as the transition period of FOM for capital ends June 2025.
That will be a huge loss for the City of London, as those financial services are making up about one third of worlds market for clearing services = a value of £ 260 trillion per year...
Estimated time needed for joining the EU are minimum 15+ years AFTER fullfilling the Copenhagen Criteria FIRST..
Every EU member state can leave the EU27 on its own free will, but it's up to the EU27 only, to decide, which country can join the EU and when..
I'm very sorry for all of you over there, which didn't want this, not though for those ones, which voted for it...
All the best with greetings from the EU27 👋

Errr...no.
They stated/analogous "that the UK could join the EU again UNDER THE KNOWN CONDITIONS" !!
THAT part of it always gets overseen by the UKs electorate..
And it would go like that ONLY =
the UK has to apply for EU membership by fulfilling the Copenhagen Criteria FIRST (which would be monitored by the EUs Commission), if NONE of the EU27 member states vetos the UK joining the EU, one veto is enough to stop the whole process of joining the EU, only then the UK/GB would receive the status as a "candidate for EU membership", and then the 35 chapters have to be fulfilled and implemented properly (which would be monitored by the EUs Commission), if not done properly, joining process stops instantly, which could take decades...(see Turkiye, status as a "candidate for EU membership" since 1999, since then on hold).
It's mandatory for ALL NEW EU member states, to join the Schengen area and adapt the €/Euro, as soon as the new EU member state has a stabile enough economy !!
Perks for former EU member states don't count in anymore, the UK is a 3rd country now, like all the other 3rd countries world wide...
EEA Agreement = SPECIFIES that membership is open to member states either of the EU and or EFTA member states ONLY, according to article 126 of the EEA Agreement.
EEA = EUs SM
NOT negotiatable !!
Norway and Iceland/EFTA, are stating since years, that they'll veto the UK joining EFTA, because they don't want a "trouble maker in their club".
Only option available for the UK is full EU membership by fulfilling the Copenhagen Criteria FIRST.
Estimated time needed for joining the EU are minimum 15+ years AFTER fullfilling the Copenhagen Criteria FIRST.
The UK doesn't even fulfill the needed criteria for APPLYING for EU membership at the moment.
Right now the EUs Commission started an infringement procedure against the UK, as it still hasn't implemented properly any of the deals, it signed with the EU27.
Starmer got informed about that subject, when visiting the EU27.

@Loneman_OG
The last "three lines" would have been better..
I can't agree with those "terms", you were using, as those terms were exactly those, which were used by the Austrian painter and his buddies...considering the losses of all those people, those terms shouldn't be used in any case = resist the beginnings...
As I'm living within the EU27 with my London born spouse, I can't see any issues about Starmer...he can't promise anything, which isn't up to the UK, but to the EU27 only..
The Tory's left the recent gvt a pile of shards..."construction site" everywhere, difficult where to start first...3rd country status, no dosh left, EU started an infringement procedure against the UK, etc, etc...and he is in power not even 100 days..
One could get the feeling, that the UKs electorate is expecting too much after 14 years of Tory's....

@Leberteich 🙄
"The EU " don't believe they won, as "the EU27" are a pragmatic, rule based organisation/union of 27 independent and souvereign countries...
Every EU member state can leave the EU27 on its own free will, but it's up to the EU27 only, to decide, which country can join the EU and when..

@psiphon2808 🙄
All the people responding to you ARE born EU citizens living in the EU27 😂
Btw, the EUs Commission is stating since years, that there won't be any "bespoke deals" anymore, because of "too much hassle".
The UK has the TCA with the EU27, and it would be very nice, if the UK would finally implement those deals, it signed with the EU27.
Again = some weeks ago the EUs Commission stated/analogous "that the EU is very happy with the TCA, that it's very balanced for BOTH sides, and that the Commission is taking care of further implementation of the TCA at the REVIEW coming up".
Right now the EUs Commission started an infringement procedure against the UK, as it still hasn't implemented properly any of the deals, it signed with the EU27.
