Switzerland is EFTA member state, same as Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein...hence in EUs EEA/SM 😂 Being in EUs EEA/SM is available only for EU and EFTA member states, not though for 3rd countries !! Thanks for Brexiting with greetings from the EU27 👋

Oh dear 😂 Germany is worlds third largest economy with AAA ranking and a national debt of 61 %.. EU27 have a ranking if AAA, outlook stable... The EU27 signed the EU-Mercosur FTA recently and is the worlds biggest FT zone now 😂 On top of that go the 756 trade deals /agreements the EU27 have with countries all over the world.. @GlynBoughton 😂 The £ 350 million never existed due to the "Brit bargain" since Thatcher...the UK never paid its full membership fee...instead it paid about one third of it only... Considering that EZs membership fee is used for the needed infrastructure, shared by ALL EUs member states, like the border police, customs controls, vet check ups, including civil services and infrastructure, professional EUs negotiators working on behalf of ALL EUs member states, the loss of those 756 EUs trade deals/agreements with best conditions due to EUs size/soft power with countries all over the world ... And the loss of EUs subsidies, like those €650 million, Cornwall received every five years since the UK was EU member state... Eus subsidies always go to the regions/districts/projects directly, like EUs fund for infrastructure, social projects for kids/youth etc, culture, art, for poor regions etc... UK lost £ 100 billion due to Brexit in 2022 UK lost £ 149 billion due to Brexit in 2023 | Bloomberg and Financial Times and UKgov 2024 All if what was sharde within EUs member states the UK has to supply and pay for on its own now 😂

OK. Apart from, that the "Norwegian model = EFTA membership" isn't available for the UK.. Norway and Iceland/EFTA, are stating since years, that they'll veto the UK joining EFTA, because they don't want a "trouble maker in their club". On top of that = ALL 4 EFTA members have about 16ish million people living there...the UK has 67ish million people = that would outbalance the EFTA members...which isn't wanted !! Only option available for the UK is to apply for EU membership by fulfilling the Copenhagen Criteria FIRST (which would be monitored by the EUs Commission). The UK doesn't even fulfill the needed criteria for APPLYING for EU membership at the moment. The EU27 changed some joining criteria due to the financial crisis in 2008, therefor ALL APPLYING 3rd countries need to have a national debt of max < 60 %, the UKs national debt is at 101,2 % recently. That alone will take ages to reduce..

OK. But it goes like that ONLY = every EU member state can leave the EU27 on its own free will, but it's up to the EU27 only, to decide, which country can join the EU and when. The UK doesn't even fulfill the needed criteria for APPLYING for EU membership at the moment. Estimated time needed for joining the EU are minimum 15+ years AFTER fullfilling the Copenhagen Criteria FIRST (which would be monitored by the EUs Commission). That timespan was stated by various EUs negotiators/spokesmen various times since years, they know due to experience of other countries joining process. Right now there are various EUs member states, which wouldn't even take UKs application form for EU membership...

Well, news travel fast these days...since Brexit UK can't do those push backs towards the EUropean Continent/France anymore...and the refugees know that.. Infact since Brexit the UK is a "pull factor", about one third of refugees coming into the EU27 want to go to the UK only !!

EUs ATAD = Anti Tax Avoidance Directive was the real reason for Brexit, all the other "reasons" were just there, to get the Brits to vote for Brexit...

Are they talking about the loss of the clearing services, which will happen soon? As the FOM for capital ends June 2025, this will be a huge loss for the City of London, as those financial services are making up about one third of worlds market for clearing services...

@horatio71 The deadline is June 2025 ... The EU27 wanted to do that already after 2008, but UK went to the European court...and won, eventhough the UK never joined the €/Euro zone..but was EU member state...which UK used as a reason to take care of all €/Euroclearing.... Since Brexit the EU27 wants it's currency services back in the EU27, the "passporting" went back into the EU27 January 2024, June this year the "Euroclearing" will be back in the EU27, then Brexit is complete, as the transition period of FOM for capital ends June 2025 !!

The EU27 changed some joining criteria due to the financial crisis in 2008, therefor ALL APPLYING 3rd countries need to have a national debt of max < 60 %, the UKs national debt is at 101,2 % recently. As it's mandatory for ALL NEW EU member states, to join the Schengen area and adapt the €/Euro, those new EUs joining criteria/national debt are part of that. EUs joining criteria = article 49 TEU Those criteria are for ALL APPLYING 3rd countries...not for UK only !! No opt outs, no exceptions, no cherry picking, no fast track anymore for any country in the world, as stated by various EUs negotiators/spokesmen/Commission various times since years !!
