  32. ย @NonFlyiingDutchmanย  That was about the eastern EUropean EU member states only, but didn't include the UK. And Macron is the President of France, which is a EU member state, but he doesn't speak for the whole EU. The EU would like to change the "one voice" voting system (which goes for some decisions made only) to a "majority voting system", because the EU doesn't want this "permanently blocking"... like Poland and Hungary are doing... anymore AND, as more New EU membership candidates are waiting to become EU members, would like to "sort" this issue upfront. That's all... no more, no less... As you're living in the EU, you should have known about it ๐Ÿ˜Š About this "multi-layered membership"... it was a subject in 2013 already ..... and disappeared again since... Forgot to say, even in this video/Times Radio, the guy is stating, that all of this is NOT official, but some sort of "brainstorming" of 12 EUropean none official guys. Look up at the Guardian, the article about the same subject says at about two thirds of the article, that all of this IS NOT official, but some brainstorming of the 12 .... It's like, when Verhofstadt joined the "re-joining march" in London holding a speech, all Remainers thought, that he was talking as a official EUs spokesmen, but he spoke as a private person only. Or when Barnier stated "that the UK is always welcome back in the EU", all Remainers were taking that as "we are invited", happily overlooking the other half of Barnier' s statement.... "under the known conditions"... It's always this "exited reports about EU" now, probably out of desperation...but going back into the EU won't be a "quick one"...as we're talking here about a timespan of 15ish years minimum from application of a country until being a EU member state and you should know that as well... Criteria are all visible at the EUs Commission site... Have a nice day ๐Ÿ˜Š ๐Ÿ– Edit typo/autocorrect

  48. ย @StillAliveAndKicking_ย  Well, as written before, this subject (two tiered EU) isn't even on the table... as there are two options available only: full EU membership or EFTA membership. Norway/EFTA has stated various times since years, that it'll veto the UK joining the EFTA, because they don't want a "trouble maker in their club". The "Swiss modell/deal" isn't available anymore either as stated by the EU Commission, because of "too much hustle". Therefor the only option available is full EU membership by applying for EU membership by fulfilling the Copenhagen Criteria first (which would be monitored by the EUs Commission), if none of the EU27 member states vetos the UK/GB joining the EU again, only then the UK/GB would receive the status as a "candidate for EU membership", and then the 35 chapters (which would be monitored by the EUs Commission), have to be fulfilled/implemented properly, which could take decades. No exceptions, no cherry picking, no fast track, no opt outs, as stated various times by the EUs Commission. It's mandatory for ALL NEW EU member states, to join the Schengen area and adapt the โ‚ฌ/Euro, as soon as the new EU member state has a stabile enough economy. Estimated time (given by the EUs Commission due to experience), about 15 years time, which includes the time for fulfilling the Copenhagen Criteria BEFORE a country can apply for EU membership. The UK is recently moving away from fulfilling the Copenhagen Criteria... Greetings from the EU27 ๐Ÿ˜Š
