.worlds 6th largest economy...
The UK "created" countries?
Are you talking about the "British Empire" = invading, occupation, so called "colonialism"?
Or are you talking about all those countries, where the UK installed all these artificial borders, when the Osman Empire dissolved, like = Syria, Egypt, Lebanon, Palestine, Saudi Arabia, Iran, Iraq...without taking care of the already existing tribal/territorial borders...which is causing problems in those regions until these days?

@JJVernig
It's not that, problem here is, that all those Brits, which are hoping to get back into the EU, are exited about him talking like this, that gives wrong hope...
Why?
Because to be back into the EU will go like this:
the UK has to apply for EU membership by fulfilling the Copenhagen Criteria first (which would be monitored by the EUs Commission), if none of the EU27 member states vetos the UK/GB joining the EU again, only then the UK/GB would receive the status as a "candidate for EU membership", and then the 35 chapters (which would be monitored by the EUs Commission) have to be fulfilled/implemented properly, which could take decades.
No exceptions, no cherry picking, no fast track, no opt outs, as stated various times by various EU spokesmen.
It's mandatory for ALL NEW EU member states, to join the Schengen area and adapt the €/Euro, as soon as the new EU member state has a stabile enough economy.
Verhofstadt knows about all of this... as he was in Barniers team for the Brexit negotiations.
Btw, right now the UK is moving away from the Copenhagen Criteria...
Estimated time about 15ish years for joining the EU again, which includes the time BEFORE fulfilling the Copenhagen Criteria (EUs Commission estimate due to experience of other countries joining process).
Greetings from the EU27 😊

Yeah, a bit too optimistic ..
About Turkiye: the EU have put the joining process with Turkiye on hold... since years... why?
Well, since Turkiye had stripped down the human rights/womens rights, independent justice, free speech/press, has still occupied parts of Cyprus, and has massive problems with heavy corruption, Turkiye doesn't even fulfill the Copenhagen Criteria anymore, and is further away from joining the EU then ever...
About Ukraine: as stated by various EU spokesmen recently, it will take minimum 10 years AFTER the war has finished, before Ukraine will be able to join the EU. Eventhough it received the status as a "candidate for EU membership", which normally a country only receives AFTER fullfilling the Copenhagen Criteria first, which Ukraine WOULDN'T fulfill recently.... it got it because of the war, so the EUs Commission can use "different pots of money for Ukraine", but of course the still existing corruption has to be sorted and lots of other issues...therefor Ukraine (apart from fighting the war) still has a long way to go.
Before the war Ukraine didn't even fulfill any of the EUs member ship criteria...
Your guess, that the UK is decades away from joining the EU again, I would agree on that, I'm afraid...
Greetings from the EU27 😊

The "Swiss modell/deal " isn't available anymore, as stated by various EU spokesmen over and over again, because of "too much hustle".
Norway/EFTA also has stated various times, that it'll veto the UK/GB joining the EFTA, because they don't want a "trouble maker in their club".
Only option available is full EU membership by applying for EU membership by fulfilling the Copenhagen Criteria first, if none of the EU27 member states vetos the UK/GB joining the EU again, only then the UK/GB would receive the status as a "candidate for EU membership", and then the 35 chapters (which would be monitored by the EUs Commission) have to be fulfilled/implemented properly, which could take decades.
No exceptions, no cherry picking, no fast track, no opt outs, as stated various times by the EUs spokesmen.

@remoanersrknts6736
Well, there is a bit of a difference, if a rich country/Germany has a "little dent of -0,3 %" = still 99,7% of its national economy are fine, or if a country, which isn't even back with its economy to "pre pandemic level", had a raise of some %, and has a yearly loss of £100 billion due to Brexit....😊
Btw, please look up for Wolfspeed, a US company which will build a gigafactory for semi conductors at the Federal State of Saarland.
Infenion near Dresden
Bosch near Dresden
TSMC (Taiwanese company which will build a gigafactory for micro chips) at Silicon Saxony near Dresden
Intel near Magdeburg
Northvolt near Hamburg
Ford near Cologne
VW is building 3 gigafactories for EVs batteries, one at Lower Saxony/Germany, one in Sweden in cooperation with Northvolt, and one in Spain or Portugal.
Etc, etc...

@francisjbrennan3358 And?
This year has been a raise by about 300% more refugees coming into the EU, when about 120 boats are arriving on one day, like recently at Lampedusa, it always takes a while, until it's "sorted".
You rather make sure, that your country and its infrastructure doesn't "crumble" completely, like those raac buildings, potholes in the roads, disappearing NHS into a private health system US style, food banks for hospital staff at hospitals, etc...

@remoanersrknts6736
Lets get some facts straight here...
the free trade deal with the USA was negotiated for 8 years, BUT, the US were demanding, that "chloride chicken, hormon boosted beef, gen manipulated food (undeclared on top of that) should be allowed to come into the EUs SM, but even worst was, that the US was demanding, to allow so called "private courts", to "sort" US issues, like any US company could claim billions of €, in case the EU would change rules/laws etc, and that US company "would/might have losses of profit, even if that product didn't exist yet...THAT would have been a never ending "claiming for money all over the EU by any US company", THIS is why the EUs negotiators stopped all negotiations and said "thank you, but no".
If you Brits would like that sort of deal, you're very welcome... 😅
About Brazil: the EU are in negotiations about a "free trade deal" with Mercosur", BUT, again, those countries don't want to put "protection for their native people in that, nor protection of environment, labourship etc... therefor... time will show...
Since 2018 the EU is in negotiations about a free trade deal with Australia... still ongoing... in the meanwhile the free trade deal with NZ is signed.
Negotiations with trading partners are NEVER done in short time... only the British negotiators are doing so, simply because of economical desperation 😅😎

@paulm2467
Well, half of my family are British, therefor it does bother me quite a lot...
It's obvious, that Brits are obsessed about either France, Germany and /or the EU or all of them...since Brexit...weirdly it never used to be an issue before Brexit...wonder why? 😅
What was missing in your responce, was the term "world beating" 😎
Btw, I doubt, that there aren't any other "richest" areas exist either within the EU/EFTA or other world wide...every country has its "richest" areas...but NO other EU27 member state has any cases of rickets nor scurvy...that's only the UKs issue...and last it had been like that were in the 1950s...
About the farmers = as sorry I feel for them, but partly they're a bit like the British Fishermen = voting against their own interests...
The farmers have their own organisations, and they vote for their chairmen... the German chairman is one of the largest landowner in Germany...therefor he is supporting/demanding those politics, where exactly those people like him benefit from the recent subsidiesing-programs = as more land/sqm, as more money one gets...independently how that farmer is working with that land..
Not to forget about those large supermarket chains, which are dictating the prices, the farmers get for their products...and last but not least...the customers...
always demanding the cheapest of the cheap..all three facts make up those demonstrations...
About the German economy = since 2023 Germany is the worlds third largest economy......and now what?
While the UK is loosing £ billions per year due to Brexit...
And opposit to the EUs economies, which are supporting each other via the EUs SM/EEA, the UK is "swimming" on its own in these times of ever growing economical blocs world wide...
Greetings
