@03817 Can't be bought anywhere else in the world, as it is a brand new system. As far as I know, even the German army doesn't have one yet. Costs for one IRIS-T = € 150 million.

@03817 Cars are available since a hundred years, and yes, there have been up grades "gg". Same happens with air defence systems and others ! The IRIS-T is the most modern air defence system in the world and therefor very useful for the Ukraine.

@Mikkel Jensen Being German I can tell you, that most German's don't want Germany to "lead" the EU, but rather be part of the European family. Eventhough Germany has the biggest economy of the EU. Not to forget, that many EU member states wouldn't be to happy with Germany "leading". Greetings to Danmark from Germany 😉

@M This is a brand new system and had to be build first. It originally was build for Egypt and is now forwarded to the Ukraine instead. It's a direct delivery from Diehl's factory. Ukrainian army are the first ones operating this system and finished their training on this high tech system two weeks ago.

@Kjetilstorm No, never said that, that´s your words! If your origin words were meant the opposite, you should have make it more clear! But, about corruption: when most of public money (like tax etc) disappears in some private pockets instead of public fundings (like the army), than that´s called corruption and can cause failings .....

@Kjetilstorm Well, Putin stated often enough that he wants to get "great imperial Russia" back, including Finland and all ex territories of the ex Soviet Union. He also stated, that none of these mentioned above countries have the right of existence. Him being a fan of Tsar Peter the Great, Putin also stated, that Tsar Peter was at war for 20 years to make up the "Great Russian Imperium" . That's why Western countries are supporting Ukraine. For a free and democratic world/ Europe. This is why it's everyone elses problem, simple as that. Little hint: just look around in the world, what this war has caused: food problems, energy problems etc, only by that all of us are involved! Forgot to say: as China is watching, and probably other states with dictatorships, it has to made very clear to these countries, that an invading war is going nowhere. If Nato wouldn't support Ukraine, it could be seen as a "new model of politics", "country" fancies other country = invading war as a "solution".

@03817 I used the cars as an example, as you posted "why does Ukraine need the most modern equipment"?! Simple: because with less equipment (like IRIS-T) with most modern high tech they have more chances to fight the Russian attacks, espacially as these modern systems are "self searching"/ they find their goal with artificial intelligence 😉

@damiion666 This most modern system only exists since March 2022, to build one !! takes three to four years and costs €150 million per unit. Even the German army doesn't have one IRIS-T system yet. You're a real expert, eh?!

@17tdonovan What a .... statement! Its like saying: they should have had smart phones 20 years ago, even though the technology (of todays) didn't exist at that time. The IRIS-T system is the most modern system and was only ready this year March 2022 and takes about three to four years to produce, price per unit € 150 million.

@Lassemalten As it is a brandnew and the most modern system (even the German army doesn't have one yet), Ukraine will be the first country world wide using it, and its not produced in a couple of weeks but takes up to three to four years, costs €150 million per unit, its not like Amazon/ delivered in a day and the soldiers needed months of training for that system as well. I always wonder why you people think, that it's like swapping from one car to another.

@vinm300 Wrong! Germany's constitution forbids weapon/ armery deliveries into a war zone (including in Germany produced and sold to other countries weapons/ armery's, they also need permission by the German Gvt/ parliament to do so). On top of that EVERY weapon delivery has to be confirmed by the German parliament and other institutions of German Gvt. Therefor Germany also has a parliamentary army, the same procedures/ confirmations have to be done before the German army can act. All of this was installed after WWII, so never ever just one German can start a war by giving order just on its own. Greetings from Germany
