@Apsoy Pike Germany is forwarding nat gas to Ukraine, Poland, Tchechia, Austria and other countries. France had to shut down half of its nuclear power plants because of low water levels due to the recent heat wave. Reactors need river water for cooling. Germany is doing the power back up. For that "service" France will support Germany with nat gas in the winter. EU win win 😉

Its nat gas whats used in central heatings in Germany. The nat gas is transmitted in underground pipelines/ net infrastructure all over Germany. Only 15% of nat gas is used for heating, the major consumption is used as raw material for proceeding things like steel, glass, paper, medical units, Aspirin, dairy products etc. Greetings from Germany 😉

@hoobsgroove You were talking about cooking oil and alcohol mix. I answered to that 😉 EU/ Germany is focusing on replacing oil/ coal/ nat gas with green hydrogen in the near future. Time table is focused on 2030-2045. If this terrible war wouldn't have come, all of this wouldn't even be a subject. @Apsoy Pike Recently there are six floating LNG terminals (convertible to hydrogen) under construction (North Sea and Baltic Sea coast line). Will be ready end of 2022/ beginning of 2023.

@pyroman2918 Imagine, if half of Germany's households (~22million) will switch all to electricity to heat their homes: instant blackout. No such solution. Btw, not heating with nat gas ( nat gas for heating is only about 15% of Germany's nat gas consumption) is the problem here, but Germany's industry needs nat gas as raw material for proceeding things like steel, glass, paper, medical units, Aspirin, dairy products etc, etc. In the near future EU/ Germany will replace oil, coal, nat gas with green hydrogen. The time table is focused on 2030-2045. Without this terrible war any of this wouldn't even have been a subject. Greetings from Germany 😉

@FimbulWinter-f6c Germany is EU member. The EU has trade deals with 77 countries. On top of that Germany has 15 trade deals on its own (yes, its possible as an EU member). And not to forget the other 26 EU member countries which are trade partners of Germany as well plus the 4 EFTA members. Get muddled up? All together 122 trade deals Germany has. Its war, did you get that? EU/ Germany will replace oil, coal, nat gas with green hydrogen in the near future. The time table is focused on 2030-2045. Everything else is temporarily as power back up for the winter.
