@alexlong3714 It's still a " candidate for EU membership", but hasn't fulfilled the "Copenhagen Criteria" yet, since decades btw, like human rights/ womens rights, independent justice, free speech/ press etc. Therefor the negotiations with the EU are on hold since ages, as todays Turkiye is further away from the EU then ever. @ritemolawbks8012 Turkiye still is a " candidate for joining the EU" since it doesn't fulfill the "Copenhagen Criteria" like human rights/ womens rights, independent justice, free speech/ press etc,. Turkiye has been on a good way at the beginning but then decided to step backwords/ away from those (for EU membership needed) criteria, therefor the negotiations with the EU27 is on hold sinse ages. Nothing to do with religion, but human rights. Greetings from the EU27

@mikkelv7020 Don't worry, the "candidate for joining the EU" and the negotiations going along with that are on hold since ages, as Turkiye still doesn't fulfill the Copenhagen Criteria, like free speech/ press, human rights/ womens rights, independent justice etc. Todays Turkiye is further away from EU27 membership then ever.
