It was like this in the 90's. Diablo story was way darker, Fallout pulled no punches, among others. Back then game publishers weren't like nowadays, and even when publushers tried to tell devs what to do, devs would just find loopholes or hide those things behind cheat codes so they could get away with whatever they wanted. The game "D" is one of those examples, the game director gave a censored version for the rating and then he switched the copies with the uncensored version for mass production.

@passponegames7874 The Witcher 3 is ONE game, is that all the west can do? One single decent game? Several people said the same thing, I usually expect several examples when several people make suggestions. I hope you realise this.

 @sarahwallace1103 They're rarer though. And they're Indies. There was a time where the mainstream games had it too.

@ivenslaercio6474 I'm just not into mainstream overhyped stuff. I prefer Nier Automata to most of those.

@HeyG_ Did I miss a lot of overhyped stuff? Oh yes, I have no doubts about that, but I sure as hell didn't miss a lot of hidden gems.

@keithstone7323 The 80's and early 90's didn't have age ratings, the publishers didn't have as much control over the devs, and even if publishers told the devs what they couldn't do, the devs would simply hide it under a cheat code or secret room in the game. There's a cheat code for a game I don't remember the name that would make a topless woman appear when the game was booting or something. And it was pretty highly detailed.
