@baronvonlimbourgh1716 Sugar with some liquid in it, as far as I'm told.

In the rain Ayrton Senna was even crazier. The other drivers used to say something like: "if it doesn't rain I may win, if it rains Ayrton Senna will win for sure"
38
What? She's dead?
38
Something not mentioned was that the engineers had to take Earth's curvature in consideration. The bridge pillars aren't parallel to each other, they're actually closer at the base than at their maximum height.

I don't know about US but McDonald's food always tasted worse than the worst food a low grade restaurant can make. It tasted like I was eating from a landfill. 🤢 If US McDonald's is worse, then I don't know what drives people to eat their products (I refuse to call McDonald's products "food").

There's a reason why Group B and the cars that raced there have the status of legendary. And the drivers too, especially the drivers.
8
@sagittariusa9012 Makes sense, since Switzerland isn't part of the EU.
6
Group B cars were 80's cars. I can assure you that if Group B was still alive it would feature faster cars. You cannot compare cars from the 20th century with cars from the 21st century.
5
What? How is it possible for a 1.5L to have 1400 hp? What kind of alien materials and alternate dimension fuel did they use?
5
Group B was crazy, and among Group B craziness there was Lancia crazy. For better or for worse, Lancia was the craziest ones. You should check Jeremy Clarkson's documentary/tribute about Lancia.
5
Project Farm Channel has the best tool comparison videos. He compares tools from those cheap Made in China to the highest top tier grade brands. He does more than one test. You should give it a look. But anyway, there's a point for cheap tools, they don't get stolen, and if you lose them you don't lose much money.
5
They probably used a very big can opener.
5
Juha Kankkunen once said: "WRC is for boys, Group B is for men." While I agree that Michelle had more balls than 90% of all men ever lived, I have to disagree with that statement. Group B was for legends Legendary cars, legendary drivers, legendary times. The only problem with Michelle, and all women who ever lived in the 80's for that matter, was that damn 80's hair. Even my mother had to go with that hairstyle from hell. I've been hating that hairstyle since I was 5.
4
That meme was probably made by an American, hence the "center" spelling.
4
Lancia were such a bunch of pirates. Amazing.
4
I wish I was old enough to be among those spectators.
4
1:30 On average men have faster reaction times than women. In racing that's huge. Not that there was anything average with Michelle (aside from that hairstyle).
4
I've seen American coffee that in my country would be called tea. I could see through it. 9:28 Yeah, that's tea.
4
In Portugal he would have been fined. You can't stop in highways unless it's an emergency. And he was stopped at the beginning.
3
@stormygayle9388 UK houses are designed to trap heat. Also few have AC. It's much easier to cope with heat when you're used to it, but that still doesn't stop people from dying from the heat, 360 people died in Spain, and they're used to heat.
3
Too hot for you? Wear a wet t-shirt. I took 40°C in the face and didn't even break a sweat, literally.
3
Speaking of Euro Trucks, have you ever played Euro Truck Simulator?
3
@Kick_ma She actually did it in 10 minutes and a few seconds. Where it a faster van she'd totally do it, but she couldn't do it in a Ford Transit.
3
Yeah, there's more burned area as of now than the entirety of the last year in Portugal.
3
9:54 I tell you what it doesn't have: A coffee machine.
3
It seems to me you're becoming the opposite of Richard Hammond.
2
@sandersson2813 Not for those who will die. And there will be deaths. Spain already got 360 deaths due to the heat. It's common on those places, not in the UK.
2
@sandersson2813 Therefore it's ok people die from heat. Not much of a point. Go figure. In my country more people die from heat than cold.
2
@sandersson2813 There are records up to tens of thousands of years ago. In places where ice never melts (yet) each year a layer of ice and snow is deposited. By analysing each layer experts can calculate the temperature, precipitation, gas levels (like lead percentages), etc. That's more of a worldwide calculation, but still a record for sure, and quite accurate. Although polen and spores of the flora exclusive to some areas can be taken in consideration to calculate the climate in those areas. But then again, I don't care. The records are there. Your opinion is not my problem.
2
The coffee isn't small. There's probably the same amount of coffee in it. There's just less water.
2
They have hydroplaning competitions? Awesome!
2
Wear a wet t-shirt. I took 40°C last week without breaking a sweat. It lasts for around 3 hours.
2
@Spr1ggan87 That too.
2
Correction: the only thing that comes close is Group B Rally. But since Group B is gone I guess Rally is the closest we have.
2
#1 is not just in Germany. It's probably across all EU. #2 it may be common, but everyone hates them. They're slow and it's frustrating when the other drivers can't overtake them. Most of those things are common among EU countries.
2
It's true, Celsius is garbage, that's why we use centigrade.
1
1:43 I bet the foot play isn't any less impressive.
1
During the Euro of Portugal there was a report that a bar in Algarve (southern region) had beer in stock for 3 months. When the Brits arrived, they ran out of beer in a single night. And it was in a touristic place where the movement is already high, so a 3 months stock should take a high number of customers into account.
1
8:15 There's also the tragic death of Ayrton Senna. Have you seen Jeremy Clarkson's video about Ayrton Senna, btw? It's worth a watch.
1
I also have a portable AC. Wet t-shirt, it even works outside and doesn't use energy. But seriously, portable ACs suck.
1
@stevekenilworth Your point being?
1
They're harder on the outside. Even steel nails have a hard time punching through. I know that because the store I'm in has been growing bit by bit and some indoor walls were once outside doors. Whenever I have to drive a nail in them (to hang a painting or something) it feels like I'm hammering on solid rock.
1
@christianlenik5307 7:15 Yep, there it is. Clarkson's & crew arch nemesis.
1
What's wrong with having a hot red hair as a driver? 🙃
1
@sandersson2813 The records go as far back as 1530.
1
@sandersson2813 That's how far the records go. I'm just stating a fact. I don't care about your opinion.
1
@sandersson2813 I posted a link, the comment is going to be automatically deleted though. Can't do more than that. Look, you're a layman, I'm a layman. The data is there. If you have any concerns talk to an expert. I'm not the one who compiles the data. I just checked it out. Which is more than what you did
1
I don't see a reason why you need to teach geography, that was hilarious.
1
@rogerstarkey5390 I find it advantageous to the country to be attacked by the US. "The US declared war on Uganda, but since no one in the US knows where Uganda is it was decided to attack an accordion factory instead." Better avoid working in accordion factories in the future.
1
Stupidity is a human trait.
1
These truckers can pull maneuvers that I couldn't do in a video game ever, even with all the advantages a video game gives.
1
@kornaros96 ?
1
It would be better to just try and pick the lock.
1
@angelruiz4992 Oof.
1
It's not about being American, those cars are universally terrible. I would rather walk than drive those... things. 4:56 IT'S A FRONT WHEEL MERCEDES. GET BACK SATAN!!!!!!! 🤮
1
13:05 that's the one thing I feel it's unnecessary. You could just unplug the thing. Nice to have, but not really that necessary. Another thing is the fact that plugs in Portugal can be shoved upside down, since our earth connectors aren't an extra prong in the plug. That also means they are compatible with the old sockets that don't have earth connectors. 18:09 That doesn't happen with our plugs either, they don't have a flat back, so they tip to either side.
1
10:07 Do you really think something that exists for half a millennium wouldn't be integrated in everyday life? If anything, it would be disruptive for the locals if those places disappeared. The community adapted and grew around those places. They're part of it now.
1
When you see people in the middle of the road in rally that's usually Portugal. And the Portuguese fans were definitely crazy. I wish I was there.
1
@oracle8589 Right, didn't think about the humidity. No idea the effects of wearing wet clothes with high humidity.
1
@fuzzy1dk Cars from the 80's are slower than cars made in 2022? I would have never guessed /s
1
@bigoz1977 40 is not normal in Portugal. Only a select few places used to reach that temperature. These past few days it was the average.
1
@saltyaussie7702 I checked the historical records. You're lying.
1
@buddy1155 😂
1
9:06 Wait, WHAT? 1139? Portugal was founded in 1143 (as a country, it was a county before), and it wasn't the contry with the same borders as of today. It had to be conquered to the Moors, which took several generations. Also, I prefer the old white and blue flag. 11:20 No, D. Afonso Henriques I was the one who fought for independence. It was a county before, and then became a country.
1
2:05 "When you jump a car in real life" When the car goes down a slope and I'm not expecting it is already scary.
1
6:26 What do you think would happen first if you had one of those, kill yourself or shit your pants? I'd bet for the latter.
1
3:40 Hugh. I'm European and I can't stand that. One of the trends I'm glad it's gone. Maybe I saw way to many cars like that back in the day, but wood in cars is definitely not for me.
1
13:20 that looks like a door stop.
1
Just tell us to wear a wet t-shirt. Much more useful.
1
Don't trust the renewable energy projects, they're corrupted to the core by the companies making millions from it and having the government pay for the expenses with the people's money. There wasn't a single project commissioned by the government that wasn't a scheme to make millions to the parties involved. Basically everything that was government made between 2005 and 2011, during the rule of José Sócrates, was a big scam, when Portugal was being ruled by the the biggest criminal to ever rule Portugal since the rule of Mário Soares (they're two of the biggest thieves that ever lived in Portugal). Look at the old stuff, avoid the new.
1
Your dad didn't happen to steal a Morris Oxford to race with it did he?
1
F1 is boring nowadays, 90's and before F1 was so much more exciting. Super fast cars, low tech (compared to today), a downforce not much higher than a van, and a lot of skill. Ayrton Senna is a legend for a reason.
1
@lucidsamurai4188 Not throwing any blame, but apparently when you remove the risk factor of something the excitement goes with it. That's what makes Isle of Man TT what it is.
1
Rally de Portugal isn't the same since people weren't allowed in the middle of the road. 😢
1
They have to be smaller. We have medieval streets which a car can barely fit, let alone a fire truck. Besides, there's no need for big ladders when buildings here are 4 stories high at most. Also a smaller vehicle can get to where it needs to be faster.
1
They all sounded different because it was a time where manufacturers experimented with exotic materials and tried new things, they all sounded violent because they were powerful monsters.
1
3:20 they were people like us, if we can do math (well some of us...) so could they. And they were extremely resourceful like (some of) us.
1
@stever285 I think coming up with the method was way harder than doing the math. Who would think of measuring the angle of the shadows from 3 different wells at the same time? The creativity and resourcefulness of the greeks amaze me more than their ability to do math.
1
Now I know why the Unimog name was familiar to me. All firefighting trucks in here are Unimogs.
1
10:29 I bet the US has more fat people than the other 9 combined. And even risk to say the average weight of the fat people in US is greater than the others.
