  2. 8:41 That's not a damaged red blood cell. That's a genetic condition, most prominent among african people, that causes their body to produce red blood cells like that. I think it was an adaptation to fight Malaria, a disease that affects red blood cells. Red blood cells like that make them more resistant to Malaria, that comes with the downside of being more prone to thrombosis and other complications though. Seriously, am I the only one who knows that?
