  1. Correction: That’s the size of the average rifle but they didn't get much longer than that. It wasn't until the world wars that carbines became the norm.

  2. Correction: Only handfuls of men used rifled barrels, much of which were in the Continental Army. The Brits preferred early breachloaders but those also had issues.
