Comments by "Samson Soturian" (@samsonsoturian6013) on "New Zulu king crowned in South Africa despite family feud - BBC News" video.
Back in the Apartheid days, the Zulu were recognized as an independent state. These days the relationship is more ambiguous as now all the Zulus are South African citizens and the Zulu king claims rule over the whole KwaZulu-Natal region regardless of race.

There was the remarks by Fiona Timms, the "White Zulu." An Afrikaner who went native and later fled the KwaZulu-Natal and told some pretty crazy stuff about what is normal over there.

In South Africa, the Zulu monarchy is widely believed to be a scam.

It means the same thing.

@Pump11123 Some of them did. The Zulu Bantustans were an independent state back then and most of them had never even seen an white man.
2
Most people don't know a thing about the Zulus

Pelts from big cats have been the clothes of nobles for as far back as we have records. The reason is only a mighty warrior or a wealthy man could obtain them. Swahili traders even said the slaves they bought came from Bantu warrior-traders clad in scary looking tiger fur.

@senzomemela1311 I wasn't talking to a Bantu, now was I?

You also need to be friends with the nobles and have the requisite bribe money and enforcers to seize power.

Nope.

@musamkhize4279 Many in South Africa. The last king spent his days living in luxury in Europe, only flying in for the occasional public address. Add that to its ambiguous relationship with South Africa as post-Apartheid the Zulus are all South African citizens. It is also unclear if the Zulu nobles provide any public service whatsoever, but it is known that most of the South African municipal utilities are defunct in that part of the world.

@mbhekitembe2179 I'm a doctoral student in military history and I don't even vote, let alone throw around political bull.
1
@pmchunu8450 Lose the political bull, I honestly don't give a rip whether or not he was ripping people off or if he was a Zulu separatist.
1
@TheDaeroner Don't pretend you know the guy.
1
@walterlebzax9585 Lose the blame shifting. Although yes, that other guy is dirty as hell, too.
1
@mbhekitembe2179 you sure as hell aren't educated, coconut. Now don't you have a guard dog to poison?
1
@lungelompatho9903 maybe that's technically true, but lying for a dead guy doesn't change the fact he stole your money. Now don't you have snake oil to harvest for its muti?
1
@lungelompatho9903 bug off, you're no good at the junk you're pulling
1
Pipe down and finish your burger.

Winning? The monarchy is widely believed to be a scam as their warriors collect taxes and the last king spent near all his time living in luxury in Europe.

@Overwatch17 Please leave history to those of us that read history.
1
@mbhekitembe2179 You say that as if you wouldn't even know the difference between Jan Von Riebeeck and Jesus Christ.
1
The most common mistake in war is thinking you are somehow better than your enemy.
1
The Zulu have always had a king.
1
@betchface752 Yes, that means most of the people who have ever lived never had any concept of any other kind of government. And in more recent history in much of the world, we can see EXACTLY why that is so.
1
@noluthandonyandeni7882 I used Bantu as a linguistic term. Many peoples across history referred to themselves as just people like Inuits and Dakota.

Vhut?
