  7. Who bails out banks and lenders? I've literally never heard of that happening. Sometimes governments TAKE OVER banks, other lenders aren't allowed to take deposits for this very reason, and governments do whatever they frick they want.

  8.  @NJLS  Name 12. Governments take over banks or organize private buyouts. Not even turdhole countries will bailout. In fact, in one case I know the king of a country refused to bail out lenders despite his step mother and his cousin's in-laws going bust. In another case from medieval times, a king beheaded a bankrupt banker. No one has any love for banks.

  9.  @26183  a bailout is an emergency loan and/or large donation meant to prevent bankruptcy. I.E. the IMF bails out turdworld states when they give large loans to insolvent governments.

  22.  @Claire-xh5mv  Well that rules you out. Also, quit using "hold accountable" as a euphanism for "punish severely." Investment bankers get fired all the time, that's actually one of the issues. Most investment banks fire their lowest 10-20% and promote their best to replace them every year. Performance is measured almost exclusively in how much money they make the company. The secret about leadership is that no one in the world really knows what they're doing. And in this case, Credit Suisse is huge and these scandals were spread out across thousands of men, a few of which went to prison.

  27. Not fishy, but almost as retarded. When interest rates were near zero, they had lots of money coming in but had trouble finding people to lend to. So they bought long term government bonds thinking they could just resell them anytime they wanted (long term bonds have the best yields). This is perfectly fine, but they didn't bother hedging the risk of rising interest rates... Probably because they fired their risk manager when times were good and couldn't be bothered to hire a new one until damage control was needed.

  31.  @hendrikdebruin4012  I don't know what third world shithole you're from but in the civilized world, bank insolvency is rare and your deposits are protected by government insurance. In the US, when banks go bankrupt the Feds will literally show up, take over, sell everything, pay depositors, employees, creditors, and IN THAT ORDER. Muggings, however, still happen.

  37. No, that's silly. The Feds in the US turned off the money printer by offering higher interest on bonds, causing people to dump all over investments and lend to the government. This has revealed EXACTLY who depended on burning other people's money to support their lifestyles (China, crypto, biotech, Silicon Valley, investment banks, and other startups).
