Chinese ghost cities have real Hollow Knight vibes... Which may explain why that is the top single-player game in China.

Because it was profit driven, not ego driven.

No, they traditionally lived in animal hair tents and houses of uncut stone. With the exception of those involved in the oil trade they still do.

In most cases, if there is any question that a megaproject will turn a profit, it should be attempted. If people say it has value even if it loses money, it should not even be considered. It's like buying a house on a national scale, you really need to sacrifice what you need to what you can afford because there's big mortgages involved.

It was never built nor did they make money from it, and the man himself said he just said that to get the governor of California to drop the stupid maglev stuff. So can we dispense with the bull because you simply suck at veiled death threats

@JH-pt6ih it's called bullying

Not always. Sometimes there's no solution except tons of material. Like damming a river, it only works if you dam the whole river

The oil states freely mix employees and slaves. Obviously the skilled westerners are well paid and treated nicely because they need them, but the grunts simply have their passports seized and are held prisoner. This practice actually costs them more money than they steal, because locals simply will not work for them on a permanent basis and the slaveowners must import workers from as far as Indonesia. Crime doesn't pay even when the government is doing it.

Their stone houses and fences have merit. Cheap local materials and are immortal except in the event of earthquake.

It's what happens when you give brain damaged cousin fckrs a ton of cash.

They have plenty. What are you talking about?

@two2sm I remember when he worked on the migrant routes. Specifically the line "this barrier isn't to keep them out of Mexico, it's to keep them out of Texas" made me think he was a quality reporter. But his channel all had partisan or uninteresting stuff, so I didn't watch it.

@Mark_Kiwi actually, you're slightly off. There were multiple railroad bubbles in the Victorian era. At one point hyped investors said rails would replace all highways. Needless to say, they went bankrupt, but the population grew to catch up with the rails so they still use them.
