Fact of life in investing: The rise of retail trading corresponds to the rise of private equity markets. Ooph.

Given all the new dollars on the market with the rise of Robinhood and such, do we expect a lot more IPOs in the coming decade?

@goatface6602 not really, as the WSB harassment hardly represents most small investors. IIRC the average portfolio is said to be under 2 grand in size, has two unique positions, is all shares, the average investor in early 20's and is more likely to pick growth stocks that are in the news than anything. Most Robinhood users are first time investors that will eventually leave the platform for one that isn't least-common-denominator oriented.

@orlock20 there's a lot of companies that aren't public. Take Sig Sauer for instance.

@orlock20 there's over 10 million private ventures in the US. 8,000 are on private equity exchanges, and 3500 are public. Most if the private firms are smaller ventures, but still. In theory the new dollars on the market will make IPOs more attractive as the issuer could get the best deal.

@orlock20 it isn't that simple as some big and mid cap companies are private. Also for the reason you say, a lot of Chinese companies issue shares on US markets (see NIO).
