Except the moment uou turn profitable is the moment you lose the monopoly

@georgeaird4637 if that were so, then there be no benefit to dumping in the first place.
2
@PhilfreezeCH If that were so, then turning profitable means you are simply exposed to the next idiot that tries dumping. Zero sum games like this simply don't work no matter how you look at them.
2
I'd call it that just because it's hilarious.

Or maybe your imagination wildly exaggerates the importance of oil. Also, you know geology and petroleum engineering are actual sciences, right?
1
Oddly enough, no one can tell who you're slamdering.
1
@nameberry220 you better not be referring to what I think you are. Because if ya are, then you are dead

There is a small army of advisors of all sorts for this reason. That's why candidates for office make such broad reform claims only to find out how much an idiot they are upon assuming office

Reverse engineering only goes so far. For instance, Apple puts up with their Chinese partners ripping them off because the copycats are obsolete by the time they reach the market. Second, China has been unable to make Tesla copies or lithography machines despite having the blueprints because no one can afford the hundreds of billions of dollars worth of equipment, and they lack the large numbers of skilled technicians.

@bighands69 That is to say, they'd have to convince Taiwanese technicians to work for Beijing, and many would have died fighting, or fled abroad, or would rather go to jail.

We can't and we don't need to. We own half the planet.
1
@kaymish6178 That's silly. Private corporations own all of the current chip factories and you can't conquer a country by stealing business from them. Again, zero sum games are just a waste of time and money and mainly serves to the detriment of the greedy bastards.
1
@AZ-hj8ym except he didn't allege that, you assumed it, which is very interesting.
1
@thomasherrin6798 if that works, then there's nothing stopping some new idiot from doing the same. Ergo if the practice is normal they will never be profitable.
1
This is why I always tell people to just shoot your enemies. Don't waste everyone's time pretending you can bark orders and extort concessions from rival governments.
1
Americans overwhelming prefer to refer to areas based on reality, not how we desire the situation to be.
1
Gas is heavily taxed, not heavily subsidized. The discrepancy comes from idiot reporters saying that any tax break that might effect gas is a subsidy on gas. I.E. The US doesn't tax the construction of job producing infrastructure, including oil pipeline.
1
@bighands69 it isn't, we simply like to pretend it is.
1
@bighands69 when I say we, I mean the general population, not necessarily myself personally
1
@bighands69 it sure as hell doesn't given a large portion of the voting body will indiscriminately oppose any bill that may help oil drillers.
