  14.  @Andrew_Sherman  because you don't understand how option delta works. The dealers that sell said options have computers that automatically buy/short a stock based on what options they traded. I.E. if the sold more calls than puts, they buy, if they sell more puts than calls, they buy. In other words, buying puts has the exact same effect on stock price as shorting. And you can even use option spreads to get a return identical to a short. Also, shorting simply is not predatory, as it helps price discovery (making the stock price reflect the company's true value). What is predatory is all the jerkos spreading baseless criminal complaints about people shorting stocks they hold. Those guys deserve to lose money.
