  1. People quote Wolf of Wall Street because he's the trader they wish was the norm. People don't quote Margin Call because they're the traders that actually exist.

  7. That's so true there's actually centuries of historic data behind it. The biggest land lord in London are these nobles who received a charter by William the Conqueror in the 11th century. They pointed out that housing costs is always a multiple of income and regardless the era people of a similar status in life lived in similar houses. Likewise, the amount of gold that paid a Roman soldier is about the same that would pay an American soldier, although industrialization and automation has brought down the cost of most basic goods and services.
