  1. This is actually a ponzi scheme. The salaries were paid with the revenue from other talent. Colin Thompson intended to exit the scheme by selling the company, but it appears he is now the bagholder.

  2. Startups rip off VC firms all the time with this same method. Take equity funding, pay friends generous salaries, then when you run out money you simply close the firms and only rich chumps lose.
