These sure ain't easy to make as good 3d printers are expensive and skilled hands are needed to make fine adjustments. Another reporter actually made his own and it malfunctioned constantly. Also, ever heard of the book "Expedient Homemade Firearms?" This isn't remotely new.

It ain't easy. It takes hours of fine adjustments to get them to work
6
Not really. There were homemade guns since forever

It's a hit all over the US except the inner cities where the users lack the expertise to make guns. Still, the article exaggerates. These guns are crummy and most people who use them just enjoy building stuff.
3
That's a felony by itself.

@JoeDoorVal EU doesn't have gun laws. The laws vary wildly between EU states.
2
These aren't remotely exclusive to the US. Americans just argue about gun control ad nauseum. Note this article is highly editorialized.
2
They literally aren't.
2
Er... Why? You still need a license to sell guns. And these guns aren't worth the money and effort as special tools and dozens of hours of work are needed to make one. The only people I'm aware of that have them just enjoy building stuff.
2
@aidenshannahan2466 if you really think that you're going to lose your mind when you find out about precursor chemicals and ANFO.

Politics, mostly. We argue over gun laws ad nauseum and a lot of people support/oppose gun laws indiscriminately. Namely, you'll hear this VERBAITIM: "can't pass sensible gun control laws." That dates back to the early 2000's when there was the 10-year "assault weapons ban." Issues included disputed constitutionality and the vague and arbitrary definitions of assault weapon. Congress argued the matter in circles for years, but nothing was passed so the ban was allowed to expire. You'll see a lot of the same rhetoric floating around often attached nonsensically to anything related to guns. Yeah, it's annoying.

It's all over

@JoeDoorVal I'd have to check each one, but the only states I'm aware of with super strict weapons laws are france britain and the Netherlands. The EU is stereotyped as liberal but overall they're not more liberal than the US. In fact, they go to greater extremes in both directions. France has the longest running gay pride parade, while Poland has LGBQ free zones.

Shut up. Until the day it becomes illegal people will keep doing it.
1
@hockeymaskbob2942 someone with a lot of money to burn as they cost several times more than factory made guns
1
@hockeymaskbob2942 it certainly also cost you at least 20 hours of skillful labor. When buying second had, that translates into hundreds of dollars paid to the other guy who is presumably doing this for a living.
1
@hockeymaskbob2942 the thing the printer spits out doesn't work and requires manual adjustments in order to cycle. Fact is 3d printers don't have the precision or durability to spit out ready to fire guns. I saw one interview with a long time hobbiest who said it'll take a full day of work before testing it at the range.
1
@hockeymaskbob2942 you sure as hell haven't worked with these. I'm a historian, I'm paid to know things, although I appologize if I came off condescending.

How can you talk so much but say so little?
1
Don't give people holier than thou vibes over politics when Amsterdam has a red light district.
1
Needless politicization and partisanship in the piece.
1
@heavy_ang_patay it frankly isn't that simple
1
Possibly. You still need a license to sell guns, though. That may be all that is needed for these crummy guns.
