@thegk-verse4216 Technically it doesn't matter where in the economy you siphon off tax money all that matters is how much is siphoned. But as you can see the OP would blame this on civilized people no matter what was happening.

Turkey is Europe's shipbreaker. They have ports but have neither equipment nor competence to make ships so they break them instead

Unless you could find a way to automate the process there's no way you're paying 20 times what these yards are paying and still making money
1
Like any machine eventually it costs more to repair than it's even worth.
1
It's simple. Industries that can be automated with heavy equipment and/or require skills are rich country dominated. Those which are not are "outsourced." Like how when cheap sewing machines became a thing US clothes manufacturers slowly died to turdworld kitchen industries.

In this particular industry almost none of it goes to consumers outside the countries in question

@Nizzzler a curious statement since you're the only one here getting a lady officer's boot in your face.

........also worth mentioning because Gadani's whole empire were scams, many state-involved
1
Not to mention paying workers 20 times those wages.

Shut up @JohnSearleFangirl

Poor countries are like that for a reason. They're too busy robbing each other to make stuff
1
@daniel_960_ yes, which is particularly extreme in India since most corporate conglomerates are fake.
1
@levitatingoctahedron922 except the actual Africans and such. Some people pretend to hate anything Washington does
1
Turdworld counties are usually too busy robbing each other to make stuff, yes
