  2.  @kwacou4279  that's a bit of an exaggeration, but either way you're missing some backstory. The Sheriff's comments come AFTER the dead teen's parents tried to sue the department blaming them for the death.

  9. Parents from inner cities often don't care what they're kids do outside the home and would protect them from trouble regardless the source. Nonetheless, there's a lot of power struggles within the household as parents get angry at any hint of defiance. Source: I use to do private security in a rough area.
