  2.  @MrFlatage  I don't know what yer getting at, but I meant power consumption is akin to the output of a nuclear reactor. Current point defense weapons are ship mounted and powered a generator hooked up to the main engines.

  4.  @efrans2627  assuming by "free" you mean "become independent," you should realize they're free to go anytime they want. But they don't want to. Also Guam is so much America that Asian tourists will visit there instead of California to save money. They got malls, burgers, theaters, American accents, and they share a military and select social services with the Feds.

  5.  @callmethreeone  Why you berating me? No need to. Simply put, the lasing cavity cannot be much bigger than the wavelengths of light being used. Also, the power going into each laser cannot be so much as to melt the laser. Current LaWS actually takes a lot of smaller lasers and focuses it on a single point in order to destroy small targets.

  14. There's working models in the LaWS but they're still under development and need a whole nuclear reactor to work. There are some convoluted laws of physics that limit the size and power of lasers.
