  1. Correction: 4/5ths of the teeritory is NOT part of al-Shabaab. All that land is under control of many groups, with the UN recognized government simply being the faction that took Mogadishu during the last civil war. For instance, there is Somaliland, a de facto independent state in the north. And there are large parts of the country ruled by local pirates.
