  1. Caveat to the lights: Lights disproportionately grow the poorer the country is. In poor countries, GDP growth means a lot of people are getting electricity for the first time. Likewise, the more rural a country is the less this correlation will appear since small towns often do not show up on satellite while big cities are plainly visible.
