Military histroian here: I can tell just by looking at the plane that it is not stealth. There is a mathematically ideal shape for a stealth plane in which all the surfaces reflect radar away from the plane no matter the angle you look at. To get an idea of this shape, compare the F-35, F-22, and the F-117 upside down. The J-20's shape is mediocre, being fully stealth on an even 2d plane but its flat top and bottom are easy to see on radar. What good is stealth if you can't bank a turn without being spotted

@tonysu8860 Yes, that is so, but I can't test that just by looking at the profile of the plane. Ben Rich, head of Skunk Works, said the shape of the plain is just as important as the radar absorbing coating.

@bfair6284 that's stupid. They've never fought each other and even if they did stealth vs not stealth is always a one sided fight

Those details are top secret. We do know the Soviets made a radiowave radar that could see stealth planes, but it required a dish the size of a football stadium so it was never built. The radar absorbing paint used today is also a "composite material" that offers unknown performance tradeoffs @Jimmy2toes4u
