  1. Dire Wolves are extinct. This dog isn't even a North American Wolf descended from the Dire Wolves, it's a dog bred to look like a wolf. Dire Wolves were adapted to the ice age. They were the biggest wolves with thick fur to hold in the heat and had enormous jaws because they ate things that could fight back when they were desperate for food.
