  1. "Exorbitant" is a strong word. College is expensive and a lot of people go to more expensive schools than they can afford or get degrees with no job prospects. Part of my 50k debt is because I switched majors.

  2. That's the price for the deferred repayments and low interest rates. The government still loses money off these loans.

  3. State colleges are subsidized making them cheaper for a given quality of class. And government loans have much better terms and interest rates than what any private lender can offer (I checked).

  5. "Scam" is a strong word. A scam requires someone to actually lie to you. Still shouldn't go to for profit college though.

  6. It's a commodity and the consumer is a rich chump. Theoretically their business model could work until they buy a fake or the market gets saturated with sellers.
