  4. Misleading, as rich Romans had homes that included rental houses, offices, and amenities. The custom was the whole bottom floor would be the landlord's area and 4-6 stories worth of rooms to rent out with shared living areas. The bottom floors were most desireable since that was where the running water and sewar pipes were.
