I've met some of these guys. Their defense is delusions of organized priced fixings. They'll tell it to all sorts of people without being asked as if it doesn't look suspicious at all

Theft is mostly pathological. Thrill seeking, envy, or just greed. Some people are never happy unless they own more than others
22
That sounds like an envy issue for you
13
It is a negative sum game. It cost time/money to make the racket, but doesn't create more stuff to go around.
10
@johns5558 You're the second obvious shoplifter on this thread
9
You can actually tell what people steal based on what stores lock up. These are not essential items, they are minor luxuries and fun stuff.
9
@raulmenon9830 if it wasn't shoplifting, it would just be some other low-entry-barrier crime. That's what pathological crime does
8
Cameras are also cheap now. Voice of experience, there's simply so many cameras they're more like windows: No one will see anything if they aren't looking for it.
7
It's pathological. Some want thrills, others are greedy, some just hate people and want to cause problems
6
Bus driver here. It's not real impunity the principal just deals with it whenever they friggin feel like it. The children of potheads and thieves are generally so pathological and/or stupid that they treat the crime and the punishment a week later as unrelated matters. One bus driver said that a student said as much because he wasn't suspended immediately, but in that case the principal heard of this and that kid was expelled the next day.
5
Doxxing gets the pro-Rapists to shut up. But using it on pettier crimes just dilutes the significance of each incident.
4
Big criminals? Dude these retail gangs are the big criminals, stealing six or seven figures. There's no bandit king to compete with.
4
It's called lying
4
There are consequences, but pathological criminals usually do all they can to separate the crime from the consequences. If they know the consequences will come after a trial in 3 months, many will discount that loss to zero.
4
Yes, but back in the day we'd do it anyway anyway because we don't need no thieves hanging around. Our bosses stopped us to avoid lawsuits
4
I never had that issue, and I go into Walmart with a backpack
3
Different issue. You're in a bidding war with a bunch of Karens who refuse to change their diet because much of the bird population is dead.
3
Found one shoplifter.
2
@ Sin knows no social barriers. Like how you're demonstrating envy and whataboutism
2
@seth5143 Come on, you know as well as I do thieves hurt the company first, and everyone who does business with them is just collateral damage.
2
@BewareTheLilyOfTheValley yeah, high profile crimes generally have zero impact on things like public trust or industry efficiency. A gang can murder a politician for refusing to be bribed but that simply doesn't effect anyone else's lives
2
@PJ-qx5yt it literally isn't. It's proportional to robbing a bank but without the murder
2
@M4TTYN Sometimes the cameras are watched, and they often seal the proof when someone is accused because they can just look back at the video
2
How much did you lose to meme stocks?
2
@billiemunchen These guys aren't pro-small business, they envy rich bastards
2
Yes, and the expense of finding and catching thieves
2
@triton62674 well, yes, but obviously thieves prefer small high value items too. They also hate buying things for others, even their own kids
2
@ Middle class means average wages
1
Weird libel. There were a few notorious pro-criminal judges in CA which lead to incidents where known violent criminals who lived on the run were ordered released before trial. The argument is this junk just makes criminals more brazen, keeping the prison population constant.
1
@ Slavery suits you
1
@seth5143 lying is not necessary in this instance, Greedo
1
@johns5558 The video IS what big game theft looks like. Any delusions to the contrary will get you doxxed
1
Fair price is subjective. What costs $100 where you live may cost $200 in McMurdo, Antarctica for obvious reasons.
1
@WelfareChrist that's silly. These are public companies and no one will commit fraud unless there is a clear and immediate payoff (although in theory middle management might hide their own theft this way). A private company may lie to the IRS to that effect, but you can't just throw out conspiracy theories like those pro-Hamas guys
1
@ReaperUnreal found obvious shoplifter #4
1
Except we don't eat people either, we're suppose to either work together or otherwise leave each other alone. Only assholes want predatory dominance over other humans.
1
It isn't in this case
1
@goodfella_ You sound like your momma didn't SPANK you enough
1
@swaggery Yes, Reddit posts are overwhelmingly negative, but that doesn't always mean they're fraudulent.
1
@DistrustHumanz you suck at rhetoric. No one here is accusing anyone else of adultery or murder and such
1
@pilotjoe4010 only if you're an ahole
1
@rebeltheharem7028 There's also the pathological element, because it's literally the lowest barrier crime, so easy a child can do it. These guys get a kick out of the act of taking from others, the actual risk/reward tradeoff is secondary.
1
Dude, we're a civilized country and much of the issue is down to a handful of mafias. Where I'm from one guy was responsible for over half the break ins for the whole county. Also, there are some pro-crime people in local office.
1
@crashingatom6755 civil law is rigged against soulless entities with deep pockets
1
@triton62674 I believe you, but most of it isn't stuff like that. It's videogames, jewelry, makeup like in the video, electronics, and alcohol. Thieves also heavily prefer small high-value items which include baby products, and there's the pathological element where thieves don't like spending money on others, even their own children.
