  5. What would you think of the idea that the explosive growth of venture capital in recent decades is driving all these micro-bubbles? There's 100 times more private equity now than in 2000 and volatility is strangely high even during good times recently. And VC firms and angel investors have there hands all over literally every major fraud and bubble in recent years. Kathy is no exception, as s sizeable portion of her fund's investment are venture capital into "disruptive" firms.

  7. ​ @dhayes907 the big indexes all track big companies and/or track thousands of companies. But yes, big actively managed funds like ARK can easily pump the value of select stocks. They have over 10% stake in many of the companies they own.

  10. Unfortunately it's actually easier to get VC funding if you're a woman. They explicitly ask your demographics on applications. Extra exposure and hence funding if you're hot.

  20. Videogame development is high risk. Devs must get paid long before anyone buys the game, a trend that continues as long as the game continues to expand. After that it works like any other online store, with low overhead, a digital economy, and modest monthly revenue. That's why Valve buys up games with long term player activity amd turns them into freemium games marketed on their store (Steam).
