People aren't aware of all the dedicated jobs that go with complicated things, so they do not anticipate any problems with that part of production. Ergo, when management all have zero industry experience because MBA and DEI, you get this crap.

@adrian33161 I don't vote, and the company confessed to race quotas and it doesn't take a genius to figure out how that leads to underqualified people in high places. Like that Secret Service agent who was aggressive to coworkrs?

@W1ldTangent Airbus makes similar planes.
5
@ Not if you know a d___ thing about engies. It's hard to give an accurate time/budget for any product design, let alone stuff that hasn't been invented yet.
4
Contract price is also not flyaway price because contracts come with add ons
3
@felipaorfr the engies weren't in charge nor in contact with sales over the relevant period
3
Except maintenance isn't all proprietary and the customers are all professionals who will count that as operating costs versus similar planes.
3
Airbuses aren't necessarily European.
2
@jasonstevens2060 they make their helicopters in Alabama and satellite in Florida
2
@jimzucker no corruption that we know of unless you count race quotas
2
That's the least of the issues

The base business is profitable. Corporate screwed up THAT BAD
1
@davidbryant3532 You assume it would be built outside the US, and the law says they must let a US firm bid
1
@davidbryant3532 No such law exists, but there are rules which nudge in that direction like the one I mentioned. The main guns on M1 Abrams are actually German. Also, there's for lack of a better term discrimination where the Pentagon and Congress preferencially choose US companies unless they need to butter someone up. Like how 5.56mm became NATO standard because a US colonel argued in favor of a US made cartridge and Churchill let the US have its way on small matters
1
@davidbryant3532 you're 17, aren't you? The CIA definitely bought several thousand untraceable Uzzies from Israel. There's no law saying we can't put a woman in charge of an army in the field we just don't because that's rerarded
1
Boeing isn't a tech startup, management simply wanted it to be one
1
Which was the accountant CEO that screwed up too?
1
IDK, they definitely are losing money the only question is who they intent to rob. The VCs? The customers? The employees?

Because the factories are great, it is corporate that sucks.
1
@user-yt198 This id10t thinks Union membership = volume of raises. Much of Boeing is part of the machinist Union.
1
The word is renegotiation.
1
They are bidding against their own customer who can just build this themselves, it's just cheaper to modify a Boeing
1
@neilkurzman4907 they own some factories and have suppliers with components. YES,
1
We do need something of the sort, just not so fancy. A modified business jet should do.
1
No. The Feds can build this plane themselves, it is simply cheaper to modify an off the shelf plane
1
It's complicated but the short answer is there's tradeoffs with small all around improvements.
1
Voters complain when government does cost+ contracts. Voters like shifting all thw risk onto the corporations
1
MBA and DEI was heavily involved
1
There's actually not a lot of money in military contracts. They are hugely expensive just to bid on and get arbitrarily canceled all the time.
1
Because the factories are good even if corporate sucks
1
Lying isn't necessary in this instance. Wages didn't keep pace with inflation, but that was AFTER the trouble started. They didn't want raises because they didn't have the money, and idiot managers were often paid in stock which went as wel as you think
1
@jasonstevens2060 no one cares. It's not like we don't secretly own their butts
1
Remove this or get docxed
1
The main problem about Boeing's case is since it is the largest entity criminally charged, almost all of the available info is total bullshit.
