@wpaia grocery stores ain't so competitive. And the life expectancy of a US corporation is about 80 years. These include some really old firms, like the railroads and banks. Note how most of the biggest market caps are fairly new, so that's not always the case.

@wpaia The source of your whining is mostly down to global economies and lots of industries with huge minimum buy-ins like oil drilling, chip production, and large aircraft. These industries require and/or have preferrence for large corporations that can afford to risk a billion dollars in one project.
