  1. There were a bunch of factors. 1. Stiff competition. The Walmart Kmart closest to me back then were right around the corner... In a small town. 2. A boycott. Kmart owned adult bookstores which was enough to get my parents to go to Walmart. 3. Good solutions for the wrong problem. As in the video, as Walmart was relying on people going grocery shopping where prices were generally low, Kmart was still acting like a speciality store.

  3. Amazon didn't start it's own delivery service until 2007. Before then there was still a lot of speciality stores.

  4. No, major corporations really can fail. You see here there was stiff competition and certain Christian groups were boycotting them because they also owned adult videostores. The nearest Wal-mart to my hometown use to have a K-mart around the corner. This was a rural area, you couldn't have both.
