For comparison, the 75 largest cities in the US have a combined debt of over 300 billion, which accounts for most of the municipal debt in the US. The US government is not known for its prudent fear of leverage.

@Atombender According to who? I just pulled the first atat I found on Google but yours is flatly contradictory since the majority of the population lives in said cities. Also, that mental math doesn't add up, so I think you may have pulled that out of your butt.
