  3. The minority of US oil comes from hodgie countries. Those goons just beat each other over it. Nigeria, Mexico, and many other countries not in the news so much are also major exporters. In fact, Mexico sends most of its oil to Texas and imports the finished products.

  4.  @Pharoh_95  They've been talking about doing that for decades, but they often struggle to drill into all the reserves they have. In the last few years, heated negotiations with AMLO were needed to let US drillers invest the requisite sums into Pemex (the state oil monopoly).

  5. I use to work at a US refinery, and US regs certainly have a negative impact. Specifically existing sites are continually expanded because it is near impossible to get approval for new refineries (case in point the keystone pipeline but there's many others). Also, we heavily tax oil and subsidize ethanol, solar panels, and other green stuff.
