Farmers and fishermen need the rivers to stay put and the miners take sediment faster than rivers will replenish it. People living by the river find their house is no longer safe because they took the embankment and the rest eroded away.

Come on. You say that but we all know you don't practice what you preach. Besides, life expectancies are much shorter in that part of the world, and "overpopulation" becomes a self correcting problem due to occasional food shortages.

@btwk1157 according to the Quoran, it's punishable by death. But Bangladeshi's consumption per capita tops even Russia, and Russia's average life expectancy is at least 10 years lower than it should due to near universal substance abuse (accurate stats are not available for Bangladesh).

@kec420 none of them do. If they did, they'd be dead. All the major activists I know of had children, as many of these fools are really elitists that want to weed out poor and stupid people.
