  1. Don't take Mr.Gomes' word for it. He probably did help steal a car, but that doesn't make it any less annoying to constantly become a suspect over and over because of a cheap camera.

  2. That flips burden of proof around. Now you must not only have reasonable doubt, but you must prove that the convict did not commit the crime.

  3. Don't shift blame for if and when Mr Gomes commits another crime. And yeah, he likely did help steal a car already, but I think we can all agree he should get jail time for something he actually did.

  5. It's a matter of whether or not they even have a reporter in that area and finding people to interview doesn't happen overnight (although political BS does).

  7.  @ergoncardia  I'm sure that's how it works somewhere, but not Brazil. The key factor is there's simply so much junk going on that any half decent measure to destroy evidence will likely get the authorities off you. But you still have to worry about the victim taking revenge. Also rich people do go to prison or get revenge murdered, often when their crimes are impossible to hide or when they get in a feud with other oligarchs (a problem you can't bribe your way out of). One key statistic is most known murders involve cops. Not because cops are more violent than anyone else, but because mostly cops are reporting crimes. So it really is no surprise that a combination of cheap equipment, cheap cops, and a cheap judge will do this. Also, the suspect interviewed prolly did steal a car and get away with it. And that public defender isn't any different, as you see she's a young lawyer with a huge caseload and a political agenda. She's as much garbage as the rest of them.
