  1. That simply isn't what happened. Near a decade ago Maduro placed heavy taxes on all foreign businesses, and the oil drillers simply did the math and found they could not turn a profit in Venezuela. So they left, and the Venezuelans lack the funds and expertise to run the drills themselves (they are wholly dependent on US companies for that).

  13.  @laserraiset3300  The Bolivar is worthless and when the country collapsed people turned to bartering. It would not surprise me if dollars have been slowly introduced over the years, but I know of no indication that happened.
