@novat9731 no... It varied from place to place and time to time. During the Siege of Leningrad, for instance, most of the fighting was over attempts to fully encircle the city and starvation occurred. As for the Germans, rationing started early in the war and got progressively worse throughout

@tedarcher9120 so? Leningrad is an industrial city almost on the arctic circle. Their food supply was up river, and in the Baltic.

@tedarcher9120 Haha. Soldiers consume food faster than they do bullets. No food, no strength, no marching, no fighting. Although often in war it's not a matter if you're well fed, but if the other guy is hungrier than you are. Who was it in the Ardennes offensive that looted an American camp only to find the enemy had all the food, medicine, and other mundane gear anyone could ask for? That guy looked at said "That's it. Germany has lost." Or during the Piquot War in America. After the initial colonist victory, most of the Piquots neither surrendered nor were killed, but had to move into the mountains and fought two years of small scale raids. They surrendered because the colonists remained in control of all the hunting grounds.
