  1. I think you're attributing too much to skill when the New Zealanders were taking a lot more operational risk than most. Between joining the British war effort in Europe and the threat to their homeland in the Pacific, the New Zealanders threw A LOT of their population into high risk maneuvers when larger Allied nations could afford to take far less risk and still win.
