People are never investments, but liabilities. Once you hire them, you have made a commitment to pay them even if you lose everything
4
No one is robbing you, no one profits from markets going down. Least of all billionaires.
4
Why don't you save a few steps and simply buy shares in the best companies?
4
I don't think that's inflation adjusted
4
CAN hedge. Most use a lot of leverage. And absolute return funds are often more corelated than anyone realizes. Like how in 2020 merger arb went insane with a bunch of canceled deals.
4
Quality is better than quantity with games. And the most expense of making games is in programming them from scratch so...
4
Except it isn't their money, but their customers
3
Not necessarily so, because you see how politicized it can get which can lead to artificially high demand/supply of the service, and such market inefficiencies tend to correct itself all at once
3
Yes, but most startups are small businesses that want to be big
3
He got what he deserved
3
The frick? Why is a house different from anything else? Wheat? Oil? Steel? Grocery stores? Tulip bulbs? It's all just stuff that can be bought and sold!
3
@justingarner9293 is he stealing, though?
3
@LordBruuh they do get the point across. The movie ends with the protagonist losing everything. Thieves simply ignore all that and use the rest of the story to prop up willful delusions that that is simply how the world works.
3
@kennedysellers5320 No, he's making money off selling NFTs and books and giving motivational speeches. I hope he's still not scamming, though
3
@crimsonfox87fluxule62 Former jailer here: Jail is miserable because there's little to do and everyone hates each other. As El Chapo said: "They torture you with boredom."
3
Depends on fund type. The giant funds are overwhelmingly macroeconomic funds lead by star investors. These are correlated to the market by definition.
3
Maybe at some firms, but at most firms no. I've seen places where hiring is done by committee due to local politics creating competing views of who they should hire.
3
All chiefs, no Indians.
3
@broadestsmiler and it pays the same as trade. Because IT IS A TRADE.
3
That's what they said when they were your age. It's bull
3
Luxurious? I know the big houses seem nice to a city slicker but houses are cheap out here. It's just a matter of price skews
3
Do you even know what an asset manager is?
3
@AS89898 found the shoplifter
3
Put that back up your butt where you got it. The only thing that raises wages in absolute terms are infrastructure and technology
3
You know most of the people you're screwing over are average homeowners?
3
Someone envies Google's money...
3
@RK-cj4oc You don't think a doctor's time is worth something? The guy who spent a decade in an expensive university is just as valued to you as a waitress?
3
@YourBlackLocal Except he's blanket damning r/personfinance.

I understood it was just a therapist office. What's the con?
2
@lemon14141 I did, and from what I understand they were paying YouTubers as much as 200 bucks a patient but they haven't done much vetting of these independent contractor therapists. Not (yet) fraud at this point.
2
There was also a time when big business was impossible except in select industries.
2
Or maybe your standards just went up
2
@biguattipoptropica union jobs don't pay better
2
@mrwizard5012 that's how you identify, not anyone else
2
@Worst Case Scenario no, you are. Not the rest of us.
2
@alexsolomon7991 a scam requires actual lying. A motivational speaker is a waste of money, but not necessarily a liar.
2
@christiangraff5236 the scam ended with him in prison.
2
@deltabeta5527 risk allowed and liquidity required. And BTW index funds have largely replaced mutual funds.
2
Doesn't matter in this case. Shorting is not allowed in India, but Hindenburg sold short their bonds in the US and bought an insurance plan that pays out when a default is announced.
2
Uh... You know everything investment related is based on a "pay for the right to borrow" model, right? As in by your logic all loans, apartments, rental cars, highways, restaurant chains, and everything else is piracy.
2
@schadowizationproductions6205 dude, it is simply impossible to exist in the modern world without participating and relying on borrowing and lending. There's nothing wrong with it, it's not stealing.
2
@tnatstrat7495 some suffers from envy
2
No one read that
2
Like... You?
2
@user-kj6vk4eh6c no, Vanguard offers exclusively low-cost funds. Their founder Jack Bogle thought seeking superior returns was a waste of time and money.
2
But they screw themselves over by overpaying. The odds of finding someone to pay equally inflated rent is low
2
@luisfilipe2023 that is why cashiers aren't paid well since we can just hire teenagers
2
@baileymaloney1961 you misread. I only said some jobs pay more relative to skill
2
Because they are lying when they call things scams
2
Most corporations are not democracies. Especially ones like Palantir where they have to worry about idiot corporate raiders.
