  6. Not exactly. An election in Pakistan is more violent than a counterinsurgency in Afghanistan. Large chunks of the country are under full or partial military rule at any given time. During the last election many politicians feuded with the army over security simply because the army was controlling the who, what, when, and where of election campaigns whilst actively pressing their own candidates (who unsurprisingly won).
