Former theatre guy here: Propmasters handle the props, not the actors. No surprise the propmasters are already pointing fingers at each other. And yes, film production is usually that hectic, but most people don't throw safety out the window.

@airplanes_aren.t_real It just means it isn't a functional device. Like a prop knife has a blunt metal blade and is spring loaded to retract into the handle when you fake stab somebody.

@Heirllionaire Baldwin wasn't the director. A producer is simply someone who invests money into a movie while the director is in charge on set and the star actors do what they want.

@airplanes_aren.t_real Of course it was loaded with explosions, IT'S A FLIPPIN BAY MOVIE! BTW, most movie explosions don't use explosives. They take a steel pipe, set it vertical like a mortar, load it with gunpowder, then put a ziplock bag of gasoline in it. When set off, it produces a big and fast fireball and sound can be added in post-production.

@jordanthejq12 You're clearly twisting facts to suit theories.

Film productions are always hectic. Although not usually this wreckless.

@alfredlear4141 yes, most actors would neither check the props nor are expected to. The prop master's job is to have every item ready before they're needed on set so production is quick and smooth. On a stage production the prop master even has queues he must memorize where he changes props on a table backstage so the actors can change out quickly (the director will be very angry if any prop is not in its place). That said, if someone like me with a lot of experience with guns were acting I would likely be checking the gun between every take out of old habit.

@jordanjolls5912 I would have checked my gun out of habit if I were an actor, but that's due to habits my Dad and the Army taught me.
5
Of course stunt guys are negligent. The whole reason they're hired is to not risk an expensive actor's face.
4
I'd wager target practice when training the actors.
4
@trappedinamerica7740 POLITICS AREN'T RELEVANT HERE.
4
@justinalbin7272 I didn't say that. I said a prop gun is suppose to look real but be safe
3
That only happens overnight in the movies. But it's gonna say death by gunshot
2
@suivatra123 not on a movie set.
2
@suivatra123 a curious assertion given you're regurgitating decades old arguments. There's nothing political about this incident and it neither highlights nor debunks anything you've seem argued in Washington. I just saw another piece where now the prop master is starting to argue sabotage. It should be clear who is afraid of jail time right now.

@madmax8949 doesn't mean they'll tell you anything
1
The plot of the movie is super ironic given all the hate mail Baldwin is getting.....
1
@XCodes who was that gangbanger actor/stuntman who said once he started being the star he stopped doing stunts because he didn't want to risk 50 people's job just to prove he's tough? A stunt man is expendable by definition, although that doesn't absolve anyone from the weird stuff that happens.

Take your medicine, Karen
1
@nathanlevesque7812 dude, the prop gun was a replica 19th century revolver. Lose the digression to silly weapon laws arguments.
1
@suivatra123 nice rhetoric. Now say something of substance.
1
@kate_6436 she's also suggesting sabotage. Someone's afraid of jail time...
1
@prodigalson6166 people who talk like that are more likely to shoot themselves in the foot than anyone else, oddly enough.
1
@FordFourD-aka-Ford4D no one gives a rip. Those jobs don't just work together and overlap they are often one and the same person.
1
@toribarron5700 no one read what you just wrote
1
@FordFourD-aka-Ford4D just because it's the internet doesn't mean you need to berate everyone. Are you also going to get angry over whether it's spelled theater or theatre? Or whether it's a production assistant or continuity? There are people that will get riled up over that and no one cares.

@pcostyle11 him and several other dudes. The civil worker's compensation is straightforward enough that it will almost certainly be settled out of court.
1
@pcostyle11 he won't. I bet the lives of everyone on this thread.
