  1. There was no rifling, the inside of the tube spiraled. As the bullet was forced through the barrel it would impart spin.

  2.  @phant0m233  Modern powder is smokeless. Sniper rifles do tend to be one trick ponies as they're hard to shoot in any position besides prone.
