The Chinese had the tools and competency to copy Russian equipment. With these you can see many of the markings are hand-done and at least some key parts were fraudulently re-labled "Made in Iraq."

That's a Russian thing

To be frank, it doesn't matter what the machining is like since half of the Iraqi soldiers didn't know how to shoot and the other half surrender/flee without a shot fired

@Tunkkis The Soviets especially. Since they were Communists every part in the supply chain was a headache for managers as there were no open markets. Also, Russia is full of remote places where replacement parts may take ages to arrive. That's why Ian had to point out the sniper rifle was unusual that it had no shared parts with standard AKs.

@wauce-v8v Ha! The reason the war with Iran went on for so long was because the soldiers largely refused to move forward against any resistance. Both sides resorted to supplying their men with human shields to get them to do anything. To cite one Iraqi commander, an American A-10 squadron did more damage to his unit within hours than the Iranians did in a decade. The whole friggin Iraqi army was a scam.

Almost as if they didn't understand the functionality of the ribbing.

@Halal_Dan Iraqi higher education was a fake guru scam. They resorted to abducting Iraqis that had migrated to civilized countries to get stuff done.

@tomaspabon2484 I've got a feeling you'd say that even if you knew for a fact it wasn't true. This is friggin Iraq, they need help with anything more complicated than falafel.
