Scott, you say it can't be a ballistic missile because it's poorly designed to be one... But that assumes these guys actually know what they're doing (they do not). Same goes for the contradictions in official statements. They'll threaten their enemies saying they're building death rockets one day, then disavow any connection between that and the rockets seen the next. They do the same when they're moving tanks around too.

There is. Every department feuds to increase their budget as a large portion of it gets disappeared by the bosses.
3
They don't know either.

There are no rules in world politics

@ciaronsmith4995 I'm a historian specializing in the middle east. You couldn't be a more obvious Holocaust denier. So shut up before I find out where you live.
2
You don't know a thing about Iran, do you?
2
You should talk
2
@ciaronsmith4995 why you so intent of signing their praises when you evidently haven't been following events over there at all?
2
Tehran shouldn't waste their meager GDP on something they lack the expertise to finish.
2
@FourthRoot they're useless at best.

Dude, they simply hire any foreign engineer they can get and blow away a major chunk of their GDP on deterrence weapons they don't know how to use.

@UCQ4e1TgvvbX1L6OjmIvV-yQ put that back up your butt where it came from. All of Iran's qualified engineers got their educations from studying abroad and they lack the skilled technicians to do even simple stuff like electricians, lineman, and water treatment. Buildings in Tehran especially collapse all the time due to cheap and unskilled construction, and utilities are only available in select areas where they break often and are repaired slowly (and many people can't afford it anyway).
1
Dude, they rely on foreign engineers and skilled labor. They should really put their money to better use (like setting up domestic rifle production).
1
@absalomdraconis unclear. Just like their command structure.
1
@vladimirdyuzhev you are not Farsi.

@TomUlcak political BS

Hard to tell, as Iranian equipment tends to be Frankenstein style machines. Like how their "donestically produced" tank is just a mismatch of parts from old Soviet and US tanks machine tooled together. These are exactly as unreliable and tedious to make as they sound, but they get to threaten people with big scary looking tanks. A major factor you must realize is all of Iran's engineers are either foreigners or Iranians who went to school abroad.

@ciaronsmith4995 shut up. Get drafted. The Farsis are laughing about your silliness.
1
It's the Middle East. Governments fake it until they make it. Only if they ever do make it they just set their sights yet higher.
1
@ciaronsmith4995 you did. Now shut up, you don't know a thing about Farsi.
1
@absalomdraconis one problem: They don't know what the hell they're doing. The design is simply the product of the tech they have on hand regardless of its ultimate purpose. It's like their "domestically produced aircraft." Their machinists simply copied and replaced old parts on antique F5s until it was more spare parts than original parts (no more than 50% of their airforce is operation at any time despite extreme efforts to put on a show of force in the Gulf).
1
@absalomdraconis they don't even have working sewers. I'd think that would be a priority, but instead they just fraudulently hide it on their stats in order to look like a middle income country.
