I have a feeling there's going to be an accident since NASA is clearly hiring astronauts based on demographics.

@scottmanley Those were career test pilots and war heroes. No one hired them because they were white, pendejo. There's frankly a long list of incidents where underqualified persons were accepted into universities, public office, and other jobs. Like one judge in an inner city that had to be removed from office because he openly sent the Balliff suggestive images and didn't even bother hiding it.

@fuzzyhead878 he's being whataboutist. He brought up the first thing that came to mind regardless if it made sense

@johannesgutsmiedl366 No. If you're recommending it here, it's clearly political bullshit. And you're talking to to a military historian, I am familiar with hundreds of cases. Condescendingly telling anyone that disagrees uneducated is a sign of incompetence

@johannesgutsmiedl366 I don't think you've read it either. But even so, it says nothing to my original post that at least some people are getting promoted for demographics rather than competency. I know for a fact Mr. Biden is doing that as I'm not aware of anyone he's appointed that isn't a minority of some kind, and the odds of that happening by chance are literally astronomical.

@johannesgutsmiedl366 I didn't say that all. You assumed it. Which reveals that I'm not the partisan fool. And no, I don't for a minute take your word for it that you read the book, let alone that it is even slightly relevant. FYI cases of "reverse discrimination" started apearing immediately upon affirmative action becoming a thing. In one Supreme Court case, a medical student clearly had better scores than the other guy, but was passed over in order to meet minority quotas. Likewise, two politicians have faked an Ashkenazi background to get votes. And two politicians who aren't just known liars but have vocally supported terrorism still hold office because they're minorities. That's the sort of stupidity we're dealing with.

@johannesgutsmiedl366 also, back to the original post, just do the math on all these minority appointees. The odds that a relatively small organization will have so many firsts in such a short time is astronomical. Also, there was never a barrier for minorities. John Harrington was actually half Chickasaw. There's just so much competition for so few seats that the only men that get the jobs are ones who went to the right schools, learned to fly at a young age, have STEM degrees, and have the cash to spare to spend years of their lives trying to get a job at NASA.

@johannesgutsmiedl366 come on, you know better. I said hired based on demographics, as in they hired based on that instead of who is the best candidate. You may be the most talented pilot in the world, but if the other guy has connections that got him into the Air Force Academy, then he is likely more qualified to be an astronaut than you. Savvy?

@johannesgutsmiedl366 "considering diversity" is a frank admission that people are at least partially hired on demographics. Consider Mr. Biden's choice of Defense Secretary. He literally picked the highest ranking black guy. This is fine, I read some of his stuff and he's perfectly qualified. However, think about what happens when everyone pulls this shit. You get incidents like when one professor whose dissertation was a highly politicized study that was completely falsified, he had done none of the work necessary to be a professor, but was passed without question.

@johannesgutsmiedl366 Lose the rhetoric, we went over this. It is a statistical certainty that some people who are more qualified are passed over for positions. If and when everyone does this, you will inevitably have totally incompetent persons in senior positions. To get a picture of the extremes of this problem, look at BEE in South Africa. There are cases where government employees were charged for not hiring enough blacks, but there's no consequences for hiring unqualified persons such as illiterate army officers, teachers who don't know what a square root is, and heads of state with prior felony convictions. Meanwhile the mixed race persons and the Indians are completely ignored by BEE despite also being traditionally abused minorities. If you ask me, just remove demographic questions from applications. That can remove most of any real or imagined problem without the stupidity.
