  4. L2 is the point where Earth and Sun's gravity double on each other to keep an object orbiting the sun fast enough to keep up with the Earth. IIRC, you have to be far enough away from Earth that a normal orbit around the Earth would take a year. Of course the two orbits never perfectly cancel out and the object will move around as it orbits, making it appear to orbit empty space.
